Statement on Government’s £20 million funding support for victims of abuse

May 13, 2025

The UK Government has announced nearly £20 million of funding for specialist services which support victims of domestic abuse, sexual violence, ‘honour’-based abuse and stalking.

As co-founders of the Joanna Simpson Foundation, Hetti Barkworth-Nanton CBE and Diana Parkes CBE said:

‘We welcome the Government’s £20 million investment in support services for victims of abuse. In particular, the dedicated £5.3 million to help children affected by domestic abuse.

Children are too often the unseen victims of domestic abuse, carrying trauma that can shape their lives for many years. This vital funding recognises the urgent need to support young survivors with dedicated counselling, education-based interventions and help for their families.

It is a step forward in ensuring every child affected has the chance to heal, recover and thrive.”
